Month 1

Local Box

We have been delivering local food to your door for 1 month already and we have been so excited to see more and more people each week join this local food movement. Thank you to everyone who has ordered so far!

3.5 Justins height- our crisp recycling total for month one

Two things we want to celebrate!

  1. We have collected 22 crisp packets to be recycled! Or 3.5 Justins.

Terracycle makes it possible to recycle crisp packets, which can’t go in our home recycling. We’ll wait until we’ve gathered up a big stack and then take them to a drop off point.
There are drop off points all over the place, often they are local shops or pharmacies, so if you want to make sure your tricky to recycle products don’t end up in landfill, check out where you can drop off your empties here.

2. We had zero food waste in month one! Our suppliers are all so local that they are able to supply us with small enough quantities and we can get the products within a few days. This means that we aren’t creating food waste as we only order what we need, which is what you have ordered that week.

What’s on for month two?

  1. We want more crisp packets! We’ve only got back a percentage of the crisp packets we sell so we need to be louder about letting you know we want them! Just rinse your wrapper and put it back in your Box with your cooler pack and we will get it next time.
  2. More products- since we launched we have added 3 new suppliers and expanded the range of products on offer. We’ve now added Ditty’s Bakery, Burren Balsamics and Ard Mhacha Shiitake as well as expanding the range of other suppliers by adding more of the Dart Mountain cheeses, a decaf coffee, preserves from Ballylisk and Broighter’s lemon rapeseed oil.
We have some more in the pipeline and we keep researching new products that we could add so lots more to come! If you have ideas or things you’d like to see added, they might be products you find hard to get locally or source sustainably, even if you don’t have a producer in mind, let us know and we’ll get researching.
  3. We are starting a weekly (maybe?) newsletter to keep you updated with new products, suppliers, features and other useful info! Anyone can sign up to receive the newsletter here.

Please spread the word! This is queue free, unlimited browsing shopping! Friends, family, neighbours, we’d love to have them on board.

Month two here we go!
